About the Artist

Stephanie Oliver

I took up art in 2013 to help manage the tremors in my hand. I could not even write my name clearly and it was extremely frustrating. The tremors are a result from the side effects of the medication that i must take to manage my disability. Art has not only reduced my hand tremors but has also boosted my confidence and self-worth that was destroyed after my diagnosis in 2008. Art helps me relax, express myself, connect with others, and create pieces that I can be proud of. In 2019 I graduated with a certificate from the Denver School of Botanical Art and Illustration; I also completed the UK's Society of Botanical Artists Distance Learning Course with a Higher Pass that same year. I enjoy drawing plants because I can take my time with my subject, since it does can take me longer to work on a piece, and I love to illustrate the imperfections in nature.
