About the Artist
Cathy Pregmon
I am a 75-year-old retired teacher, theater director and trainer, and now designer of costume jewelry. I am legally blind in my right eye. I also have the sight-threatening condition known as keratoconus in both eyes. I believe that the creation of art is an integral part of a life well-lived and am eternally grateful that I can still make jewelry. "Stringing" is the way I create my pieces. Having little to no depth perception makes metal and fire work incredibly dangerous so I rely on color, texture, and design to create my pieces. I work with semi-precious stones and crystals but also use nuts, seeds, horns, and bone in many of my pieces.
