About the Artist

Tina Vasquez

I love to carve wax as it is a creative outlet for designs I can see in my mind. My inspiration comes from nature, buildings and designs on fabric as well as Celtic, nature symbols and planetary symbols. Hence the name M31 came to me as it is the name for Andromeda Galaxy.I usually start with a design in my mind’s eye and find the perfect stone (mostly natural stones) to pair with that. Either I will carve wax or fabricate in Argentium Silver or gold. I prefer to set my stones bezel or flush so as not to catch on hair or clothing as prongs do. I have a propensity to make my items heavier than what is commonly found in retail outlets. I like to feel I am wearing it, but it’s not too heavy to be uncomfortable.My disability happened in 2015 I was diagnosed with 2 cysts growing in S2 Facet joint in my back. I have arthritis in left shoulder, left hip and knee, and most recently a torn meniscus I have been trying to rehab.
