Alicia De La Cruz
Alicia De La Cruz is a Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Artist that has been creating beaded works of art since the age of 7! Taught by her aunts and grandma, Alicia continues her cultural art with a modern twist on design. Her inspiration is often floral designs, things in nature and designs taught to her by her ancestors. Alicia currently lives with Anxiety and OCD. Often, beadwork is an escape for her mentally and heals her with each and every stitch. Alicia also has had both Hashimotos Hypothyroidism and a pituitary adenoma (small brain tumor) since she was about 13 years old and 16 years old respectively. Living with these conditions only fuels her need for creativity more and she is very proud to continue her Ojibwe art into her adulthood, despite overcoming these challenges!
