About the Artist
Paula Davidovich
In 2016, I was diagnosed with acute flaccid myelitis, a condition similar to polio that led to paralysis and confined me to a wheelchair, leaving me without the use of my legs and limited upper body strength. Previously right-handed, I lost the ability to grip a pen or paintbrush with my right hand, which prompted me to relearn how to write, draw, and paint with my left hand. This adaptation has not only been a significant part of my recovery but also serves as a therapeutic outlet. Painting has become a shared activity with my young son and a way to express both the challenges and joys of living life to its fullest despite my paralysis.
