About the Artist
Raghda Skeik
I'm a self-taught visual artist and a calligrapher despite my medical background as a Nurse. My art journey started in 2013 when I injured my back while helping a patient of my own. I was bedridden for six months unable to practice any simple task, and surely unable to practice my medical skills anymore. Art was my healing meditation as I started to create from my bed. I’ve painted expressional calligraphy artworks and landscape scenes using basic supplies and acrylic paint. Gradually moving around the house, I've had my art corner in the basement creating and experimenting with different mediums. I was invited to exhibit my work for the first time in 2017, and I had my first author and people’s award back then. To date, I’m still dealing with limitations due to my injury, but my brush never failed me to create, and share my art with everyone, especially my students - whom I’m committed to teaching them all that I've learned. It’s never too late to rise!
