Debrah Antonson
Debrah Antonson turned to art during a time of deep personal loss, discovering creativity as a way to let emotions move freely and safely. Living with schizophrenia and cognitive impairment, Debrah paints to express feelings that are sometimes difficult to put into words. Art allows her imagination to expand and helps her process grief, joy, and everything in between. Living in a group home where creativity is shared and encouraged, she draws inspiration from the people around her and from the sense of community art provides. Debrah values the opportunity to show her work publicly and believes Art of Possibilities helps challenge assumptions about disability and creativity. Through her paintings, she proudly shows what is possible when individuals are supported, seen, and encouraged to share.
