About the Artist

Annamaria Carfaro

Annamaria Carfaro, anna, is a contemporary artist that utilizes digital media to isolate and transform a face within a photograph into a large, bold, colorful canvas. She earned a BA from West Chester University and a Master’s in Administrative Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Anna uses a wheelchair and has an obvious disability. Her personal struggle with Multiple Sclerosis has eliminated the use of her legs, left arm, and left hand. Diagnosed in 1991, the disease’s progression has affected her ability to create art in the traditional manner. It hasn’t stopped her from creating spectacular artwork, rather, changed how she creates art. She invites the viewer to interpret the emotion inspired by the original photo. The final pieces are unique, high quality, glossy, Giclee, gallery wrapped canvases. Color, size, and movement are her signature qualities.
