About the Artist
Deanna Lamour
Art is the motivating force of my life. A self-taught painter for 30+ years, I approach painting as a sea-farer might embark upon a vast ocean. Rarely planning my artwork in advance, the colors, shapes, and small repetitive details show me the forms they would like to become. The external focus and attention to details calm me and bring enjoyment. I can completely lose myself in painting and forget about certain physical and mental challenges I face every day. Art is my main form of communication; I find it difficult to interact with others. My hypersensitivity to sound, tactile experience, and emotions, easily causes sensory overload. Physical challenges stem from a near death motorcycle accident, an automobile accident, and undiagnosed Lyme disease. Art gives me purpose and joy, inspiring me to express my love of colors, forms, symbols, and the natural world.
