The sweater and fence posts are acrylic skins were painted on the parchment paper and applied to the canvas. Crushed pop cans were applied to the canvas, celebrating nature and recycling back to nature. It is things I see everyday like knitted items on telephone poles and trees.
Mari Newman
For many years I have painted rejected fence posts to recycle them and put them in gardens for landscape decorations. The paintings I do this year are done in oils and acrylic mixed together on the canvas. They are mixed media. I take no stick parchment and use acrylic paint the different shapes and colors. Then when dry I peel the subject matter off the parchment, and then lay it on the canvas that has an oil painting background and lay it on the canvas to give it a three dimensional effect. With the coming of Spring I was thinking of flower gardens for three of the fence posts and one picture I used crushed pop cans and some of them I used paper or dried flowers or painted my own flowers. The acrylic skins after they're dry I apply to the canvas with the oil painted background. I use alot of found objects for my paintings.
