Cherries in the Snow was actually inspired by my favorite color, red. Second of all, with the winter holidays around the corner, why not a desert. Hence, Cherries in the Snow was a perfect choice. Red is the cherries, white is the snow, and silver is the sun glistening down from above.
About the Artist
Billie Steiner
Billie Steiner is a self-taught, abstract painter. She believes abstract painting is a way of releasing your inner feelings and emotions on canvas using different techniques. She is a person who suffers from major depression, anxiety, ADD, and BPD which is Borderline Personality Disorder. With these diagnoses, her feelings can be disoriented. Her way of releasing those complicated feelings is by abstract painting. She may picture something she wants to paint, but because of her racing mind, it’s hard to do, but when she’s done with it, which could be hours or days, it ends up being a unique piece of art that can be interpreted in many different ways, and it doesn’t need to be corrected. It’s right all the time. She feels as though it is like freedom of speech. It opens our mind to diversity. Her goal is to let those struggling with mental illnesses know that abstract painting can release those feelings of frustration. Combined emotions can create a masterpiece.
