About the Artist
Melissa Milton
Melissa Milton is an Arkansas native who took up art in 2017 to pass the time after her first year of becoming bedridden. After 5 years of being homebound she was prescribed a portable oxygen unit that enables occasional outings and even short driving trips; This, in turn, has allowed her to sit upright long enough to expand beyond hand drawn digital art into wet paint on canvas and clay sculpture. This newfound mobility has also permitted her to participate in local art shows and exhibit her handmade art pieces in local art galleries and nearby gift shops. Melissa’s 2D art is made with acrylic paint on canvas, Mixed Media consisting of photos she took then later painted upon, and hand drawn digital art. She frames and wires her art herself. She also prints her art prints herself. In her 3D clay art, Melissa enjoys drawing the viewer into a world of whimsy or, for some pieces, the abstract.
