"I began my art training in Saturday classes at the Philadelphia Museum of Art before I was even in school. I was an art major in high school and went on to study - and graduate from - what was then the Philadelphia Museum College of Art. I also spent a summer at the Penland School of Arts and Crafts, exploring weaving, as pattern has always been—and remains—my passion.
In my late 30's I was afflicted with diffuse progressive systemic sclerosis (AKA scleroderma) which was predicted to end my life. However, I volunteered as a guinea pig in a clinical trial and was, in fact, the only guinea pig to survive. I was left with my fingers permanently curled into the palms of my hands, but I still type using the sides of my thumbnails."
