Ian Shearer
I am a Seattle based artist. In 2018 I survived a massive stroke. I was able to regain use of the right side of my body, however, neuro fatigue, cognitive and memory issues, sensory overload and mild aphasia became constant companions. My work uses urban nightscapes to explore themes of isolation, subjective reality, sensory experience, and memory. I am taken with the beauty of small moments, as the "ordinary" becomes extraordinary in the wake of disability. I hope to add another voice to a condition that affects hundreds of thousands, by documenting my own recovery process through mark-making.
