About the Artist
Nicole Miritis
I spent close to 25 years working as an IT specialist before a serious back injury, left me disabled, forcing me to take a leave of absence. The last 6 years have been difficult as I had to find a way to cope with my chronic condition and lifestyle changes. I started painting and it became part of my therapeutic process. Even though, I find it a challenge to paint, I continue to work as I find it is a way to express my emotions. It was during an art class that the teacher described me as a 'recovering artist '. This statement redefined me and realized my accomplishments, as a result, I discovered art. I enjoy using different mediums and incorporate found paper materials into my artwork, thus, redefining once again the word 'recover'. My artistic journey has permitted me to progress as an emerging artist, and find my way of thinking which is out of the box is often depicted in her work. I have a portfolio of varied accomplishments, including a publication and art exhibits.
