David Terrar
“You are having a heart attack” said the doctor to Maryland artist David struggle. So began the 16-year struggle. His whole world changed. He had to quit his high stress job, lost his social contact with work friends. Then he was challenged to illustrate his experience into paintings that are representational and close to being abstract. Using strong powerful symbols, he aims to connect with people who are suffering and take them to a different place away from the stress and worry of their pain, even if only for a few seconds. He illustrates trees as a sign of strength, stability; the golden sun coming through the trees is warmth and light. Gold has been a symbol of hope for people in darkness for the last thousand years; Snow represents the struggle. the color scheme is drawn from the colors of autumn and winter, symbolic of nature’s annual rest period and hibernation.
