About the Artist
Tommie Blackwell
I am a multimedia artist who has learned to deal with traumatic incidents and mental illness. I could escape through art what I feel in reality, but I hide, so each piece has a meaning. I find it therapeutic to work with various mediums especially metallic acrylics. I paint on canvas and cardboard. I also love working with graphite and doing life like portraits, cartooning, and web page designing. I base my work on my passions as well as current events to make social statements; to evoke awareness.
