About the Artist
Katherine Cooper
I am a blind artist trying to turn my passions into a living. My condition is a progressive form of Macular Degeneration called Stargardt's. I like to use subjects of disability and femininity within the frailty of the human body by incorporating nature and Floriography into my work. Painting as a medium has allowed me the space and agency to express my perspective on personal and current events in a way translatable to those who do not share my disability. Beyond making this my career, I would like to educate consumers and bring awareness to the disabled art community as a whole. I want to use my art as a platform to start meaningful and productive conversations around art and disabled people in the art world.
