Dorinda Tveit
Dorinda Tveit is a self‑taught artist whose work reflects a deeply personal journey shaped by disability and change. Dorinda describes the impacts of disability as leading through different seasons, some difficult and unchosen, yet all part of lived reality. These experiences form the foundation of the artwork, where identity and self‑understanding remain central themes. Through self‑portraits and the recurring symbols of water and nature, Dorinda explores inner life, movement, and transformation. Art serves as a vital form of expression, especially when spoken words are difficult to access, allowing thoughts and emotions to take visual shape. Outside the studio, Dorinda enjoys reading mystery and romance novels, cooking foods from many cultures, and spending time on walks. Creating art offers continuity and meaning through life’s shifts, providing space to reflect, adapt, and remain connected to personal voice and experience.
