About the Artist

Joseph Pravda

Joseph Pravda is a painter and multimedia artist whose creative life spans writing, theater, visual storytelling, and decades of professional experience. Trained in journalism and law, Joseph has long moved fluidly between disciplines, often storyboarding ideas across page, stage, screen, and canvas. After surviving cancer, multiple major heart procedures, and experiencing a stroke that temporarily affected speech, art became a vital way to continue communicating with clarity and depth. Painting offered a language that did not require explanation, allowing memory, imagination, and resilience to take visual form. Joseph’s work reflects longstanding curiosity about narrative, symbolism, and the human condition, shaped by both personal endurance and intellectual rigor. Creativity remains central to daily life, providing purpose and continuity. Through art, Joseph shares a belief that even after profound interruption, expression can remain powerful, precise, and deeply human.
