"I have always loved to paint and draw. When I was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis (AS), I fought back—and in the 1990s, I experienced a remission.
Then, in 2003, I was in a head-on auto collision that broke my neck in three places and caused a concussion. I experienced partial paralysis on the right side of my body and serious nerve damage. Soon after, my AS returned with a vengeance. I was devastated. I had lived with chronic pain before, but this was something more. I turned to God for help.
Many physical therapists supported my healing, but the hardest part was learning to have patience with myself. Slowly, I regained movement on my right side. Along with physical ability, God gave me perseverance, patience, and humility. Painting and drawing—especially from nature—remind me of God’s love."
