Lorna Ritz
"My work explores composition, color harmony, and the concept of ""how to see"" rather than ""how to paint."" I focus on how color conveys the time of day and how to mix precise temperature ranges to create a resonant composition. I have taught at institutions like the Rhode Island School of Design, Brown University, and the University of Minnesota, and exhibited globally, including with the Art-in-Embassies Program in locations like Africa, Guatemala, and Hong Kong.
My work has been shown in galleries and museums such as the Divinity Center at Yale University, the Contemporary Art Museum at UMass, and the Hopper House Museum in Nyack, NY. I have also been honored with grants like the Adolph & Esther Gottlieb Grant and the Pollock-Krasner Grant, which have supported my exploration of visual perception through painting."
