About the Artist

Omar Al-Shams

My work explores the relationship between the body and multimedia experiences. With influences as diverse as Munch and John Lennon,new synergies are distilled from both mundane and transcendant layers. I incorporate photography,anime/manga,and traditional art and combine them into a comprehensive interpretation. What starts out as contemplation soon becomes manipulated into a hegemony of power,leaving only a sense of dread and the chance of a new beginning. As shifting replicas become transformed through diligent and repetitive practice,the viewer is left with a testament to the darkness of our world.
