About the Artist
I am a native of the Netherlands and earned a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of Amsterdam. In 2001, I moved to the United States, working as a neuroscientist. In 2012, I started my life as a self-taught artist. Performing art is for me an activity that entails responses to my career as a scientist. I ask myself, how art can be relevant to anyone else. My aim is to show others what I see, not precisely what I saw.I make paintings, mixed media objects, and (neo-DADA) sculptures and installations. To summarize these activities I consider myself a material artist, and always searching for associations and compositions using paint, wood, canvas, and different artifacts, and antique subjects. When I see that unrelated subjects fit together, I move on to completion. www.ImagesAndFeelings.Com
