Art in its many forms has been an important part of my life. At an earlier age I was a theatre artist. As Artistic Director and founder of an adult touring company we toured plays of empowerment for children in five states. For the past fifteen years I have been a jewelry designer using my love of art and creativity to fashion pieces of wearable art. As a visually disabled person who has little to no depth perception metal work is not in my comfort or safety zone so I use color, texture and design to create art for individuals. My limitations have often been a frustration but I find that I am happier when I embrace the possible as opposed to dwelling on the limitations that I encounter. I enjoy the process of creating using unique materials such as horn, bone, seeds and nuts but also embrace the "bling" inherent in the sparkle and shimmer of crystals and semi-precious gems. I find that the creation of art enhances my space and place in the world and that is very important to me.
