About the Artist

Annie Hickman

Annie Hickman is a photographer who approaches the world with curiosity, care, and a deep appreciation for detail. Photography has long served as a creative outlet, allowing small moments to become meaningful records of experience. Inspired from an early age through exposure to art museums and sustained by a life of teaching, photography remains a way to notice and celebrate the richness of everyday life. Living with a degenerative neurological condition, her creative practice brings calm and focus, sharpening awareness rather than narrowing it. For Annie, art is a privilege and a way to remain connected to wonder, even during times of challenge. Sharing work in spaces where disability is not an exception but part of the community feels affirming. Annie’s photographs invite viewers to slow down, look closely, and recognize beauty that is often waiting quietly to be seen.

Location: On display at Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute
