About the Artist
I have always felt I could express my true self and my struggles, my anger, depression, and anxiety, to others through my photography. I endured bullying as a young child, and I was unable to express myself or explain my emotions to others. For me, being an artist has always been about photography. I love taking a photo from different angles to find the perfect picture. A picture that almost every person can relate to; where they can find a deeper meaning hidden in the crevice of a cheerless smile. When I started photography I knew nothing about other artists, I just played it by what I liked. However, as my education grew I began to learn more about photographers that had similar styles to my own. I stumbled into Jenny Saville. I felt an instant spark when I first saw her photography, I felt inspired. She made me want to create with my body and express my fears about myself and my disabilities to the world.
