LeAnn Wilkins
LeAnn Wilkins paints because the act of creating brings peace into her day. Working primarily in watercolor, she is drawn to the medium’s unpredictable nature and the way it mirrors life itself. LeAnn paints expressively, layering and blocking color with a brush used almost like a carving tool to build form and mood inspired by photographs, but never bound to exact replication. Living with fibromyalgia, art has become a vital form of therapy, offering focus, calm, and choice in the face of uncertainty. Watercolor can only be controlled to a point, and within that limitation LeAnn embraces the flow rather than resistance, watching paint move across the page with anticipation. Animals and nature are favorite subjects because they bring joy and grounding. When LeAnn paints from a place of calm, that feeling carries into the work, and it is her hope that viewers will experience the same sense of peace and encouragement when spending time with her art.
