Among the various health issues I?m enduring, one of the most debilitating has been trigeminal neuralgia (TN). Trigeminal neuralgia is a chronic pain condition that affects the trigeminal nerve, which carries sensation from the face to the brain. Even mild stimulation of the face?such as brushing teeth or shaving?can trigger a jolt of excruciating pain. Often described as one of the most severe pain conditions, TN presents significant hurdles to daily living. For me, TN has meant enduring sudden, severe facial pain episodes that can last from a few seconds to several minutes, making routine activities a constant challenge. Living with trigeminal neuralgia, I am required to continuously adapt and find the strength to cope. These experiences have fueled my passion for my art. As I paint or draw, my mind slips into the work instead of feeling the pain of TN. Art has been my therapy and much of my work reflects my condition.
