About the Artist
Patrice Salmeri
As a source of healing, photography allows the expression of the emotions that dwell deep inside. My photography brings me peace, comfort, and joy, and I hope it does the same for others. Raised in NY, my childhood was traumatic; photography and sports were my escapes. My fascination with photos began as I excitedly waited for a Polaroid to become a picture. I earned a BA in Ohio and then moved to West Virginia, where my photography developed as my environment was rich in color. I earned my BA in Ohio and later moved to West Virginia, where my photography flourished amidst a rich, colorful environment. I also earned a degree in Alcohol/Drug Studies and became a counselor, eventually pursuing my MA. My passion for serving others has always been a guiding force in my life. By now, my body and mind have brought trials. My body was deteriorating, and I found myself with knee replacements and an eight-level thoracic to lumbar fusion. Emotionally, I suffered from C-PTSD from childhood and began toiling through challenges to experience a sense of healing. After retiring from a career as a counselor and educator, I am now fully dedicated to photography.
