About the Artist

Gary Melquist

I aim to show emotional depth in my work that expresses brilliant colors and a bright energy. My art says something about me – my gregarious personality and love for life, travel, and exploration. I am also inspired to create drawings of exotic birds, animals, and flowers. I have been creating visual art since 2011 when I became a participant of the Avivo ArtWorks program. I didn’t know I had the ability to draw until I was 65 years old, first starting with pencil drawings. Since establishing as an artist I have shown my work with People Incorporated, Courage Kenny, Avivo, and the Hennepin Theatre Trust.
