About the Artist
Daniel Edmondson
In 2014 I was in a locomotive accident that resulted in the amputation of both of my legs, below the knee. Art was immediately part of my recovery process. Now eight years later I am an illustrator, portrait artist, and painter. In addition to making art, I am also an adaptive athlete competing in skateboarding, snowboarding, and wake surfing. I volunteer to help children with disabilities learn how to skateboard which is being considered for the Paralympics. In 2017 I published a hand-drawn coloring book that features skateboarders with disabilities. Creating art has been a wonderful coping tool in dealing with the pain and challenges that come along with being an amputee. It brings me much joy when others enjoy my art.
