About the Artist

David Spohn

David Spohn is an artist whose creative life has been shaped by a deep connection to books, storytelling, and the printed image. Growing up in Chicago in a family of writers, editors, and educators, David was drawn early to the worlds of books and print editions. While in college, discovering etching became a defining moment, uniting drawing, printing, and the satisfaction of working in editions. Since then, life and work have carried David from the Midwest to California and eventually to Minnesota, where designing, illustrating, and writing books have remained central alongside intaglio printmaking in a home studio. David is the author and illustrator of several children’s books and has illustrated many others. Through prints, drawings, and books, David aims to honor the quiet, healing beauty of nature, focusing on small spaces and simple stories that gently remind us how the world can be a more thoughtful place to live.
