Kris Walker
For over 30 years I have been working as a commercial photographer and graphic designer. Starting in my late 40’s a series of health challenges changed my life, including a cancer fight and diagnoses of ADHD and anxiety. My outlook fundamentally changed and I was inspired to shift to fine art, using it as a means to process and heal. My work focuses on bending the physical into the surreal, utilizing neon palettes and geometric patterns to celebrate the exploration of creativity, constantly asking “what if…?” My art explores ADHD and divergent thinking. Starting with tightly cropped photos of buildings, I looked for interesting shapes and patterns. Rotating and mirroring those patterns further broke down those elements into abstractions. Those results were reminiscent of a kaleidoscope, which inspired the use of saturated colors to contrast the monochromatic finish on the buildings. Allowing my ADHD to wander down new paths led to an unforeseen artistic journey.
