Diane Lundmark
Diane Lundmark discovered watercolor painting as an additional form of therapy when a paintbrush was placed in her hand, opening a new creative path during recovery. Playing with color has become both enjoyable and meaningful, offering a way to move beyond injury through expression and experimentation. After sustaining a spinal cord injury from a fall in September 2024, Diane became an incomplete quadriplegic with limited function in her hands. Despite these challenges, watercolor has provided space for focus, patience, and progress. Following a nerve and tendon transfer on her right, dominant hand in May 2025, Diane continues to adapt her process, using tape to help grip the brush and maintain control. Painting is approached one mark at a time, emphasizing possibility rather than limitation. Through watercolor, Diane engages creativity as a companion to healing, finding empowerment in color, persistence, and the act of making.
