I’ve always loved art, but I hadn’t been creative for a long time. In 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic began, I enrolled in virtual art classes. It gave me a way to connect with others when all my usual social opportunities had stopped. I enjoyed getting back into art and have been consistently creating ever since. I’ve participated in multiple solo and group shows and created a website to share my work with a wider audience. I decided my next step would be going back to school, and I’m currently working toward my Associate’s degree in Fine Art. I don’t stick to one particular style—I enjoy working with a variety of materials. Because of a disability that affects my hands, unintentional things often happen during the process, and I use that as part of the piece. The final result is usually different from the original plan. I want my experience as a disabled artist to serve as disability advocacy in action.
