About the Artist

Kong Ho

Sumptuously painted in a technique consisting of free-flowing wave-like patterns held in check by subtly controlled washes of glaze and exacting trompe l'oeil floras and shells, my flora-nautilus paintings exemplify the theme and style indicative of my ongoing body of work, the "Luminosity Series." My art embodies the experience of transition - a feeling of the loss for a past that is left behind, and the excitement of new connection in the future. My polio disability experience strengthens my personality and sensibility in art making. My art enables me to express my feelings about the limitation of my physical mobility through the symbolic imagery of transformation and change. To a certain extent, my disability allows me to pursue the spiritual freedom in my work.
