When Thoughts Are Lost
About the Artist
Communication is not always easy if you have a speech impediment. Brilliant ideas or simple words of endearment can easily become a tangled mess of sounds due to your brain being wired differently. Six out of eight of my family members were diagnosed with speech impairments. We went to speech therapy from the age of two throughout high school. The goal of my artwork is to make the viewer aware of the difficulties people with communication disorders face, including the process of undergoing therapy, and the often unexamined emotional toll. Gillian Moore work and reside in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In 2013, she received her BFA from Missouri State University, and graduated with my MFA from Kendall College of Art in Design in 2018. I have participated in the Second Annual Studio West Juried Art Show, in Brighton Michigan, where she won 3rd place, and won the People's Choice Award in the Art Walk's 11th Anniversary Art Contest in Springfield, Missouri in 2012.
