Katherine Cooper
My name is Kat Cooper. I am a blind artist who also battles Lupus. Both my vision and my autoimmune disorder are progressive. Regardless of the struggles I face now and in the future, I plan to continue to pursue art and adapt through the degeneration of my vision and health. I use nature and the female body to reflect the fragility I have felt through my struggles with my own body and disabilities. Floriography has become increasingly important as I use the language of flowers to bring more subtle meaning to my pieces. Art itself is communication and through its creation, I want to start meaningful conversations around art and disability with everyone but especially other disabled artists around the art world.
