David Terrar
"I suffered from depression and began to think about how I could illustrate that experience. How many times had I heard someone say, “I hate this winter” on a January afternoon walk through a snow-covered path in the woods. The thought came to me: I needed to find a way to express stability and signs of hope.
As I walked, I saw the setting sun throwing shadows on the day-old snow. The snow came to represent conflict. The tall, old trees felt like a symbol of stability. The golden sky became a sign of hope. In classical art, a gold halo often symbolized heaven, a place where hope endures.
There is always a path to hope. This piece is my way of finding—and sharing—that path."
