Katie Farkas
Katie Farkas (they/she) is an American artist from Long Island, NY, with a BFA in Studio Art from Adelphi University and a double minor in Philosophy and Art History. Living with major depressive disorder and amblyopia, they use art to process the world around them. Through mixed media, photography, installation, and video, Farkas explores what it means to bear witness, readdress fleeting moments, and examine memory in an image-saturated world. They re-photograph childhood images, capturing awkward interactions, gestures, and touch, while layering video to reflect on technology?s role in shaping memory and the monotony of existence. They attended a residency at Gullkistan Center for Creativity (Iceland) in 2024 and will travel to Sardinia, Italy, for an upcoming residency in 2025.
