Aphasia Eruption is my interpretation of the stroke that caused my aphasia; The blue reflects problems and sadness after my stroke, and the cream reflects my pre-stroke self. The lips are my trouble talking and the red feathers represent my hemorrhagic stroke.
About the Artist
I experienced a left-sided hemorrhagic stroke in 2007, which caused right-sided weakness and aphasia. I keep active with friends and multiple support groups even though I no longer work. I have submitted artwork to Crop Art to the Minnesota State Fair, Robbinsdale Schools, Minnesota Connect Aphasia Now, and an Aphasia art show in Eau Claire, WI. I have written poetry for the last 1 ½ years with multiple groups across the United States. Several of my poems will be included in a poetry chapbook to be published in 2022.
Art on display at Courage Kenny and online gallery.
