About the Artist

Aimee Bungard

Aimee Bungard is an artist living and working in the hills of Appalachia just outside Pittsburgh with her guitar player husband, 3 free-range children, 2 Suessian mutts and 1 perfect Torti kitty. These pieces speak to my worsening migraine disease and the loss of ability to continue with things that have previously given life importance. Preventative treatment for Migraine disease prevention involves an element of neurotransmitter manipulation. These infinitesimal messages flowing between axon and dendrite, control the braiding of brain, body and being in ways we are still trying to grasp. The cleaving of lived experience and measurable data is vast and at violent to the patient. We don't know what we don't know, but we also dismiss oral description as much too subjective to believe. As my Migraine disease progresses, I am committed to documenting a visual testimony to this lived journey and the impact with which it barrels through my experience as artist, mother, partner and woman.
