Sarah Nehrbass
Sarah Nehrbass is a 30-year-old nonverbal young artist with Down syndrome who has used her artistic talents to communicate and express herself for over 12 years. After high school, she studied art at the Interact Visual Arts Program in St. Paul, where she explored a variety of mediums including painting, textile art, and mosaics. Her favorite creations are her long, sensory-driven, woven works, made under the tutelage of her Saori Weaving teacher, Chiaki O'Brien. Sarah was blessed to be awarded a grant from ARC Minnesota to purchase a loom to weave at home. She now continues to create and gift Woven Memory pieces made from loved ones? clothing, is developing wearable works, and displays and sells her art whenever possible.
