Bill Lyth
Art transports me into a state of mindfulness, creating a oneness between the clay and myself. As I work passionately with the clay, I hope it becomes a visual beauty and a mirror image of who I am as a person. The intimacy with the clay allows my emotions and spirituality to emerge spontaneously, expressing what words cannot. The pottery continuum—from creation and shaping to glazing—brings me great contentment as I navigate the challenges of each day. This year, my work is inspired by the birds I see flying outside my home, and I am also sharing a unique sculpture in a vase, inspired by mid-century designs.
