About the Artist

Molly Carver

Artist’s Statement A life can change on a dime!! In 2006, when I was 15, I was in a minor car wreck that had major consequences for me. When I stepped out of the car, I became the “ground wire” for an electric utility line that was touching the hood of the car. It sent high voltage coursing through my body. My heart stopped for over 12 minutes. I am alive today because, miraculously, an ER doctor was on the scene and performed continuous chest compressions while two Eagle Scouts did rescue breaths, until EMTs arrived with a defibrillator. When I awoke I was in the hospital and I could not talk, walk, or remember what had happened. I had incurred an anoxic brain injury that affected most of my abilities. Since that time, I have spent each day doing all kinds of therapeutic activities. I still do not walk without personal assistance and use a wheelchair most of the time. My hands do not function as they used to, particularly the left hand. Vision difficulties put hurdles in my pat
