About the Artist

Kamia White

Kamia White has been making, exhibiting, and selling art for 18 years. Kamia works in a wide range of mediums, but gravitates towards drawing and painting as her main practice. Her inspiration comes from childhood memories and pop culture references; old houses she’s lived in, Prince, and karate movie action stars often appear in her work. Recently inspired by a trip to The Textile Center of Minnesota, Kamia’s new work, Colorful Quilt, re-interprets a traditional quilt block in large scale and in colored pencils. Her many sections of directional line and various hues of browns, blues, and greens evoke the patchwork sections of the textile art she was inspired by.
