About the Artist
Jeannie Bridgeman
I have always been enchanted by light and transparency, so the medium of watercolor has been a natural way for me to express myself. A few years ago, I started making stained glass mosaics. My subjects are birds and animals that I capture with my camera and record in my nature journal. In 2019 I had a stroke. As a result, I have a language processing disorder called aphasia. As I struggle to express myself verbally, art is my refuge from an overburdened brain. I find a spiritual connection to the animals and how they make me feel. “Unexpected Serenity” reflects my surprise and peace at discovering two swans swimming in a Northern Minnesota lake on a beautiful fall day. In “Horses in the Mist”, I feel the freedom and independence of the two horses running in a misty field. In the mosaic piece “Flash of Color”, I remember my mother’s love of cardinals, and I feel her presence. I create art with light, transparency and connection, and I hope that shines through to the viewer.
