About the Artist
I was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 disorder in the Fall of 2008. After which it was hard for me to draw a straight line as I struggled constantly with hand tremors. I started artistic study in 2012 because I thought improving my hand strength through drawing would help control the shaking. Now I very rarely get tremors and if I do, they are in my non-dominant hand. Art has helped me cope with my diagnosis and gain back lost self-confidence. I am fascinated by plants and botanicals, and currently working in watercolor and graphite. In 2019, I completed the Denver Botanic Gardens School of Botanical Art & Illustration Certificate and the Society of Botanical Artists Distance Learning Program Diploma, both of which were huge accomplishments for me.
