About the Artist
Tammi Gallegos
Tammi Marie Gallegos sees art as a cherished inheritance, passed down through generations of her family. Drawing deeply from this rich lineage, she crafts portraits infused with the essence of her parents’ youth, captured in old photographs. Recently, she ventured into pop culture, presenting Garfield in a unique light—imbued with mischief and charm, a testament to her personal vision. Her works, whether steeped in family history or pop culture, radiate warmth, nostalgia, and an inviting sense of familiarity. One piece, in particular, stirs the cozy nostalgia of homemade lasagna, fresh from the oven. Despite challenges in listening and focusing due to her disability, Gallegos finds a sense of completion and clarity in her solo art projects. She embodies the belief that with determination and heart, any obstacle can be overcome. Her art, collected by entities like The United Way in Minneapolis—her hometown—serves as an inspiring reminder of the power of perseverance and passion.
